Ben Pettitt (BA4) finished second individually to lead the Drake golf team to a third-place finish at the D.A. Weibring Invitational Monday.
Pettitt had a 54 hole score of 70-73-74=217, while Drake finished with a team score of 893.
Zach Johnson (BA4) was disqualified in the second round for signing an improper scorecard, which cost the Bulldogs the team title. Johnson's other rounds were six strokes better than the scores Drake was forced to count from No. 5 golfer, Mark Ohde (BA4), who finished with a 245.
The Bulldogs were the defending team champions.
Drake competes in the 21-team Oregon State Invitational Monday and Tuesday. The tournament features three other teams besides Drake that competed in the 1997 NCAA Golf Championships.
