"Bif ! Bam! Pow! Wow!": Drake alum delivers a comic punch

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's … Tom Seymour! This Drake grad may not have the power of flight, but his knowledge of all things comics is definitely "super."

Tom Seymour graduated from Drake University several years ago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater. Now, instead of coping with the bloodthirsty world of theater people, Seymour is starring in his very own Internet show entitled "Bif! Bam! Pow! Wow!"

According to ON Networks' publicist Jeff Salzgeber, "The new program celebrates and critically reviews all that geek culture holds dear: comic books, graphic novels, movies, action figures, video games and even the occasional fantasy babe."

"Bif! Bam! Pow! Wow!" was released to the world by ON Networks on July 30, 2007, premiering two full episodes on that epic July day. Since then, six more episodes have made their debut, and "Bif! Bam! Pow! Wow!" has gained popularity in the process. More have been shot but are not yet released.

So, how did this whole show get started? Seymour, the star himself, didn't even become part of "Bif! Bam! Pow! Wow!" until he was asked to be the host.

A few years ago, during his days of theater involvement, Seymour was part of the American Theater Company. A friend of a friend was holding interviews for a DVD review of his show "DVD Geeks," so Seymour auditioned and subsequently landed the spot. Jeff Kehe and John Champion became his producers, not knowing the extent of the work they would be doing with Tom Seymour.

These two had been trying to create other TV shows and pitched their "DVD Geeks" to ON Networks, but, unfortunately, they weren't buying it.

ON Networks was actually in the market for someone to talk about comics. Seymour, Graham Crackers Comics store manager and employee of almost seven years, gave Kehe and Champion the inspiration they needed. On the spot, they pitched the entire show without Seymour knowing, and ON Networks was sold! "It was funny to be pitched for a show that I had no idea about," says Tom.
