The large class has also caused headaches for the Office of Residence Life. The class exceeded the capacity of the first-year quads and as a result the overflow was transferred to Morehouse Residence Hall. Lorissa Lieurance, assistant director of the upper-class experience, said 79 upperclassmen were moved out of Morehouse and into Drake West Village to make room for the first-year students. The relocated students pay a residence hall room rate of $1,980 per semester and are required to enroll in a campus meal plan.

Last year was the first year that Drake University required an essay with the application. Next year, the admissions office is aiming for the magic number of 850 admitted students.
"We are investigating all possible options, including starting an Early Application process and going from a rolling admission process to a deadline-based admission process," Delahunt said.
